Our story
For over 400 years, Lower Mill has stood beside the stream that once turned its waterwheel, grinding flour for the village. That same stream still winds through the gardens today, and the original millstones remain – one greeting you at the entrance, the other preserved beneath glass inside.

“This place is truly magical. It is so much bigger than the pictures suggest, we were pleasantly surprised. The garden is wonderful – to have a river flowing through it is a real treat. Inside, every detail has been thought of from mood lighting to Sonos sound. We felt so comfortable and relaxed that we didn’t want to go home. Helen really has an eye for detail as it’s all the little bits such as luxury shampoo, crisp linens and fluffy towels that made this a 5* stay. Definitely our favourite place we have stayed. Our 2 Labradors loved it as well!”

“Fantastic stay for a family celebration, will definitely be back. This property has been finished to an exceptional standard – surrounding area was beautiful and a short walk down to the beach. Lovely, bright kitchen and cosy living room to relax in the evening.”

“Lower Mill was absolutely perfect for our getaway before Christmas. Helen had organised for a beautiful Christmas tree which we really appreciated. The cottage is very well appointed with extremely comfortable beds, great showers and fluffy towels. It was warm and cosy throughout and we loved the log fire. The pub in the village was excellent! We would definitely stay here again as it’s in a great location too. Thank you Helen!”

“We had a lovely stay, the house worked very well for two couples, two children and a baby. Helen was helpful in organising a cot and a high chair and the house had everything required and more to make cooking and relaxing easy! The garden is beautiful and the location is great. Three of our group were 6ft+, which made the reception hall and link to kitchen challenging….! We’d highly recommend staying at Lower Mill!”

“Lower Mill truly feels like a paradise for the soul, mind, and body. The sense of relaxation here goes far beyond comfort and beauty. It’s as if someone has created this space with such genuine care that you feel looked after even more than you knew you needed.
It’s a chance to feel like a child again — a place that gently restores your trust in the world by revealing a version of it filled with peace, kindness, and calm. This house is deeply therapeutic, and we’ll definitely come back here. It’s worth every penny.
The host is absolutely lovely—helpful, supportive, and truly caring. We deeply appreciate their exceptional hospitality.”

“We loved our stay at Lower Mill. A beautiful house, grounds and within walking distance of the beach and pub! It was great being able to take our dog with us and the garden was very secure. Clear instructions from Helen really helpful as was the information beforehand. We will be back for sure. Thank you.”

“The house is beautiful, well set up and comfortable – we especially enjoyed the light and airy kitchen space. We were very lucky with the weather, which meant we could have the large glass doors open all day and make full use of the outside table and chairs. You should note that the ceilings in the older part of the house are under 6ft and that you need to cross the landing of one bedroom upstairs to reach another, which may be tricky if you have little ones that wake easily. Helen communicated quickly at all times and did let us know that there would be building work going on during our stay – although not until after we booked.”

“Comfort & Luxury At Its Best 5*
This stunning, unique Homestay is beautifully presented and thoughtfully designed to provide everything you desire to make your stay just perfect!
Here’s what impressed us for our short break…….
The natural light that poured into the kitchen lounge/diner was most welcome – it was a pleasure to cook in such a well equipped kitchen. We loved the sonus sounds wired for all rooms for whatever music you choose. Comfy sofas and a log burner welcome you into the cosy lounge. And the bedrooms and ensuites are absolute luxury – large sumptuous beds and pillows to cocoon under light downy duvets with quality soft linen – simply the best!
Not many ‘luxury’ holiday homes provide at this standard and our expectations were exceeded – it was an absolute pleasure to stay!
And not forgetting of course Location –
Gower offers the best beaches and stunning scenery it this area of ONB.”

“A well deserved 5 star experience. Absolutely loved our stay at Lower mill. The cottage is outstanding, traditional mixed with new. Everything has been carefully thought out from the bathrooms to the boot room. To the wellies hanging outside to use in the grounds. The decor is wonderfully cosy and inviting, but also fresh thoughtful and tasteful. Super comfy beds, crisp linens and the light airy kitchen is to die for.
Every thought is for the for the comfort of the guests and Helen is so accommodating and helpful.
We didn’t want to leave to the point where, we in fact rebooked for an autumn stay. Cannot wait to revisit.”
